March

Celebrating Curiosity! On Friday, March 16, Webber will host our fourth annual Discovery Fair, an evening celebration of science, technology, and the arts. Many exciting activities are planned! All Webber students are invited to submit projects to the Discovery Fair. Students can enter anything that allows them ask questions and make discoveries about themselves and the world around them.  Project entry forms with complete details will come home soon. What will YOU discover?

March is Reading Month Information and Dates!
Our theme for this year is "PAWS FOR BOOKS!" We will be nurturing students’ love of reading at Webber with a month full of fun activities! Here is a look at our upcoming festivities…
  • Week of March 1-2
    • Students are encouraged to bring in a printed picture of them reading to a pet.  The pet can be real, stuffed,  grandma's, etc.  The pictures will be going up together on one big display. Please bring them in as soon as possible!
    • 3/2 - Furry Friday Reading (bring in a blanket to stuffed animal up with as we read)
  • Week of March 5-9
    • Wacky Wednesday’s Begin: March 7 Mismatched Day.  To participate students should bring in a small donation from loose change to a few dollars.  All funds collected will be donated to the Oakland County Animal Shelter in Pontiac.  It is going to be a ‘Dog vs. Cat’ collection.  Student council members will be coming around in the morning to collect the money from each class.  Your students will choose if they like dogs or cats best, by placing their donation into the correct bin. The totals collected for ‘Dog vs. Cat’ will be announced on the News Show each Friday.
    • Oakland County Animal Shelter will be visiting Webber on Friday,  March 9.  The students will have the opportunity to meet a furry friend and hear about how to be a responsible pet owner, pet care and correct way to approach a stray animal. Dogs will be leashed at all times. Please let me know of any pet allergies.
    • 3/9 - Furry Friday Reading (bring in a stuffed animal to snuggle up with as we read)
  • Week of March 12-16
    • One day this week students will swap with another class and listen to a teacher read his or her favorite animal read aloud

    • 3/16 - Furry Friday Reading (bring in a stuffed animal to snuggle up with as we read)

News for 2-5

Announcements:
  • Our Valentines Day Party will be Wednesday, February 14th at 8:30. We will enjoy a breakfast treat, play some valentines day games, and make a craft. We will end our party with students passing out their valentine cards. We have 23 students in our class. On your cards please have students leave the TO line blank and only have your child write their name in the FROM line. This makes passing out valentine cards much easier on the day of our party. Thank you!
  • We will make bags the week of Valentines Day in class to store our cards. You DO NOT need to bring in a box or bag for cards. Thanks!
  • SNOW GEAR - Please have your students bring in a separate bag for snow gear (let me know if you need one). It is too much to put in their backpack. Please label snow pants AND boots and make sure to send in shoes to wear in the classroom as we keep the boots outside of our classroom. I will be sure to communicate with specials teachers to make sure students have on their coats, hats, gloves, and boots when leaving their classroom at the end of the day.
  • SNACK - please make sure your child has a snack each day and they know where it is located. At this point in the year they can be responsible for making sure they put their own snack in their backpack :) Thank you!
  • OPINION ORAL PRESENTATIONS - Please check the calendar sent home for your child’s presentation day. I am asking them to bring something to school that they love. This item should fit in a bag so they can easily transport it. Please have them describe what they are sharing and give at least 3 reasons why they love it
